What is a modular leisure building?

A modular leisure building is a facility, such as a gym, spa or food and refreshment area, that is constructed using modern methods of construction (MMC), including timber, steel frame, and 3D/2D Primary Structural Systems. Leisure facilities work objectively with sports buildings and, using modular construction, you can configure the layout and flow of the building’s physical activity area into the passive activity area.

For example, when AFC Bournemouth were promoted to the Premier League in 2018, they needed a new training base on-site as quickly as possible. Using MMC, Modulek designed and constructed the sports building with training rooms and leisure facilities, including a dining area, and a hydrotherapy chamber room, fitted out with ice baths and hot baths.

Modulek had 6 weeks to provide a turnkey sports pavilion, ready for the team to use with immediate effect, and all deadlines were met to standard.

Off-site Manufacturing

70% of the modular project is built off-site in a controlled environment.

That means

  • Less disruption to your site
  • No risk to the project from tricky weather conditions
  • The project can be completed for one fixed price, without surprise delays or extra costs

When it comes to manufacturing modular buildings, the process is subject to rigorous control by our quality management team, who have been awarded the ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditation for their adherence to set codes of practice.

Our energy saving solutions include:
